Events
A small handful of dates in the parish year.
Coffee in the village hall, a slow walk along the Frome, a wassail on Twelfth Night, and the carol service at St Mary's on Christmas Eve. Most of our events are free; the few that cost anything are paid for with an honesty jar on the table.
Summer coffee morning
A long-running parish fixture — tea, bara brith, the trustees on hand to answer any questions about the bequests. No tickets, no charge, an honesty jar by the kettle.
Open garden afternoon
A quiet open garden in support of the Apprentice Bequest. Three small gardens in Halmond's Frome opening one Saturday afternoon, with tea and a slice. Cash on the gate, please.
Hop Sunday walk along the Frome
A short, slow walk along the river towpath in hop-picking season, led by a parish trustee. Two miles, mostly flat, one stile. Boots advised. Booking encouraged.
Trustees' open hour
A drop-in open hour, twice a year. Trustees on chairs, kettle on, paper file on the table. Come and ask anything about how the bequests work, or simply have a look at the minute books.
Carol service at St Mary's
The annual carol service. Mince pies in the church porch afterwards, paid for from the Church Fabric Fund's small refreshments budget. Everyone welcome.
Wassail evening in the orchard
A small Twelfth Night wassail in the orchard at Halmond's Frome. Cider, song, toast soaked in mulled cider hung in the lower branches of an old tree. Booking required (numbers are limited by the size of the orchard gate).
